Papi's Tacos Ocean City

I would like to say it was a great meal. I was in Ocean city for my birthday and the other place I tried to go to was closed, as we're most places though most were closed for the season. Papis was open. No one was inside except the staff. So I sat down and received chips amd salsa within 5 minutes without asking for it while bartender was still talking to me. I thought great. Fast service, makes sense when restaurant is empty. I got the special for the day - burrito bowl with "shredded chicken like what you get at chipotle" is how the bartender explained it. That came out in less than 10 minutes, not much more than 5 minutes. And this is probably where I should have paused because Chef Ramsey would have gone crazy. I started eating and stopped part way thru and didn't finish because one more bite would have made me sick. I did get sick later in my hotel room.

The picture is the baja burrito bowl: lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded chicken, avocado, crema, cheese, rice, black beans and chicken tinga. There is no sour cream. Taste would be a 0 if it was a rating. Everything tasted the same. And by that I mean texture and flavor profile. The only thing that had a distinct taste was the lettuce. I cannot tell you and could not identify when i ate rice, beans, or chicken. And it wasnt identifiable as I mixed it either. So if presentation matters, then the rating is a 0. If not for being so hungry that I was developing a headache, I wouldnt have eaten it. One pix is the bowl when I first got it with the lettuce moved because I was about to stir and remembered to take a picture. The other photo is of the food mixed together and when I stopped eating, hence the silverware wrapper in the corner. Maybe if it's said something, it could have been resolved, but I didn't. But I don't think that would have changed the condition of the meal.

I read the reviews and was excited to try the food and also give a positive review, especially because I went for my birthday (first week of January) off season. Sadly, I cannot.

Finally decided to try Papi's tacos. The vibe is very laid back. Plenty of TVs for sports. It was off season so it wasn't too busy. The bar did have quite a few customers, but there was plenty of tables. Split the fajita entree. Food was excellent. Chips and salsa were tasty. Just a touch of salt. Got the special which came with a penny house margarita. And grabbed a $1.75 Natty light. The wife and I had a nice dinner and the bill was $33. Didnt leave hungry and didnt break the bank. Thats a win. I will definitely go back and recommend.

We were in Ocean City twice with Believe in Tomorrow (respite house for families with children fighting cancer) and Papi’s donated a $50 gift certificate to those staying at the house both times. We ate there both times. The food was amazing! The service was wonderful, too. Great people and great food!
